The recently enacted federal omnibus spending bill included provision for establishment of the multi-site Manhattan Project National Historic Park, of which Oak Ridge is one of three sites. AFORR is exploring the possibility of adding scenic, recreational, educational, and historical acreage to the newly designated National Historic Park. Key players who could help push this idea to fruition include City of Oak Ridge, those responsible for the Manhattan Project NHP, supporters of the American Museum of Science and Energy, Tennessee Congressmen and Senators, ORNL leadership, and environmental groups across the state.
